Big Brothers Big Sisters of Grande Prairie & Area
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Grande Prairie & Area is receiving a $65,000 Emergency Community Support Grant for their Virtual/In-School Mentoring Program for At-Risk Youth.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Grande Prairie and Area have seen the need now, during this crisis; more than ever. Not only do most of their youth come from homes that are on or below the poverty line, but many of their youth are now isolated in toxic stress environments with addiction and mental health issues.
Youth that were once able to find relief at schools or with their mentors on weekly outings, no longer have this option available to them due to COVID-19. The youth are stuck in the very environments Big Brothers Big Sisters are trying to help them overcome. Since the beginning of this pandemic, they have been doing wellness check-ins with their youth and have also provided families with grocery cards to buy food.
