By giving to United Way, you can be sure that your philanthropic investments will receive the highest level of stewardship, oversight, and accountability. United Way directs your contribution to the area of greatest emergent and long-term community need.
How to Give

Monthly Donations - Set up regular monthly donations. For donations over $20, you will receive a charitable tax receipt. Please visit our DONATE page.

One-time gifts - A single gift can help someone in need. For donations over $20, you will receive a charitable donation receipt. Please visit our DONATE page.

In Memoriam - Give a symbolic gift in honour of a loved one – please click here to visit our donate page.

Gift of Securities - Securities are the most efficient way to give charitably. When you donate publicly traded securities to the United Way Alberta Northwest, you can eliminate the capital gains tax as these securities are sold, and still receive a tax receipt for the fair market value on the date the security is received by the broker. Additionally, the United Way would receive the full value of the securities.

Bequests - Your bequest does not have to be large to play a vital role in the work United Way does in our community. As you make provisions for loved ones, consider including continued support of the United Way to ensure ongoing care for neighbours in your community.

Gift of Life Insurance - A gift of life insurance is a way to make a significant gift in the future while receiving tax benefits today. By giving United Way of the Alberta Capital Region ownership of a new policy, a paid-up policy, or a policy on which premiums remain to be paid, you will contribute future support to the community you care about.
Year End Giving

An annual donation to the United Way of more than $200 will result in a tax benefit of up to 50% - Click here to see how much you can claim with our charitable tax calculator.

You do not have to claim all of the donations you made in the year they were made. When you donate over $200, you are automatically eligible to carry that amount forward and claim them on your tax return for any of the next five years. This flexibility means that the unclaimed carry-forward portion may qualify for a larger tax deduction for you, in the future.
